In flood-hit Assam, new areas have been inundated due to rain. 1.2 lakh people are affected due to floods in 17 districts. Flood water has snapped road communications at several places. Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh and Baksa are among the worst affected districts. A total of 780 villages were submerged in surging waters. SDRF teams are pressed into rescue works. Over two thousand people are staying at 31 relief camps being run by the administration. Rice, Dal, salt and drinking water are being distributed among affected people.
