Indian commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland is supplying 200 trucks to the Bangladesh government as part of the USD 2 billion Line of Credit (LOC) announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Ashok Leyland had earlier received an order for 135 built trucks consisting of 3T truck, hydraulic beam lifter and Sewerage sucker based on the tender floated by the government of Bangladesh. These have been handed over to the country’s Roads and Highways department in the current financial year.
The vehicle maker has received another order of 65 units of Truck Mounted Wrecker for Bangladesh. These are specialised vehicles that will be deployed by the government of Bangladesh for various highway applications. Ashok Leyland’s head of International operations Amandeep Singh told media that Bangladesh is one of its key export markets. He said that the company is enthused by various export facilitation measures taken by the Indian government.
