IANS on Wednesday reported that Vijay Mallya would be flown to Mumbai as the case was registered there.
The CBI and ED Officials will accompany the fugitive businessman. The CBI and ED will seek for his custody when he’s produced in the court. Earlier in 2018, a court in the United Kingdom had sought the details from the Indian investigative agencies regarding the conditions of the prison where he would be lodged. The Arthur Road Jail was chosen and a video from the cell was presented to substantiate the standards of facilities in Indian jails.
Mallya is wanted for fraud amounting to Rs 9000 Cr, and the case is involving 17 banks. The Arthur road jail has seen some of the notorious criminals like Chota Rajan, Abu Salem and a terrorist responsible for 26/11 attacks Ajmal Kasab.
Earlier this week many so called foreign policy experts criticized the Modi Government of weak foreign policies, Vijay Mallya’s extraction is testament to the resolve of the Modi led government “No safe havens for economic offenders”. PM Modi took on the economic offenders in the G-20 Summit 2018, “Track down and unconditionally extradite money launderers and break down the web of complex international regulations and excessive banking secrecy that hide the corrupt and their deeds”.
