About 98.55 Lakh farmers have been benefited from the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season procurement Operations with MSP value of over one crore 27 lakh and 164 crore rupees.
Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in a statement said that paddy procurement for Kharif 2020-21 is continuing smoothly in the procuring States and Union Territories including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Assam, Karnataka and West Bengal.
So far over 673 Lakh Metric Tonnes of paddy have been procured. This is an increase of 14.26 per cent against the last year corresponding purchase of 589.46 Lakh Metric Tonnes.
Out of the total purchase of 673.53 Lakh Metric Tonnes, Punjab alone has contributed 202.82 Lalh Metric Tonnes which is 30.11 per cent of total procurement.
The Ministry said that based on the proposal from the States, approval was accorded for procurement of 94.39 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Pulse and Oilseeds of Kharif Marketing Season 2020-21 and Rabi Marketing Season 2021 for the States.
These States are Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh under Price Support Scheme.
