Chennai: The announcement made by the Tamil Nadu Government to provide holiday for the primary schools from March 16 to March 31 in Tamil Nadu due to coronavirus outbreak was withheld until further orders on Saturday.
Earlier, the Government had announced holiday for the classes LKG and UKG for all the schools in Tamil Nadu. It had also announced holiday for the classes from LKG to 5th grade for the schools in the cities bordering Kerala.
On Friday, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami also held a multi-departmental review meeting to monitor the government’s efforts in preventing the spread of COVID-19. The decision to suspend classes was taken then. Health minister C Vijaya Baskar and secretary Dr Beela Rajesh also participated.
