An unprecedented growth is being observed in the ongoing Covid Vaccination Drive of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. On the second day of Tika Utsav vaccination figures crossed the landmark of five thousand. A total of 5,549 doses of Covid vaccine were administered across the islands yesterday.
The cumulative 8,482 doses have been administered during Tika Utsav in A&N Islands. Now, the focus is on achieving the set target of 20,000 doses during the last two days of the ongoing Tika Utsav.
The Directorate of Health Services,DHS has continuously expanded the reach of vaccine to all the eligible persons. Previously, the centres were increased and now vaccination in the workplace is going to start from today. Vaccine will be administered at VSI Airport, APWD Head Quarter and Forest Department situated in Port Blair.
195 people vaccinated in Little Andaman by sending in a flying team from Port Blair by Pawan Hans helicopter. The team was flagged off by Health Secretary R N Sharma alongwith DC, South Andaman Suneel Anchipaka yesterday.
Today another team is reaching Chowra, a remote island located in Nicobar district. A medical team will be on board MV Kalighat scheduled to sail towards Nicobar island with a purpose to vaccinate all eligible passengers.
Meanwhile, a vast awareness program is being run by administration to encourage all eligible persons to come forward for vaccination. The police , healthcare workers along with Aganwadi karykartas are reaching doorsteps to mobilize the general public.
