The annual 38-day Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra that formally commenced today is going on smoothly, from twin routes of Pahalgam in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district and Baltal in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The Yatri movement started early morning from both routes under strict security cover. The Holy cave is known for the ice stalagmite that forms within, resembling a Shivlinga. The Cave is situated at an altitude of 12,756 feet in the Himalayas in the Kashmir region.
that over 3000 devotees were allowed to proceed towards Chandanwari on Pahalgam route early today morning. More than 9000 pilgrims were allowed from the Baltal Ganderbal Base Camp towards the sacred Cave Shrine. Yatris were seen very happy, delightful and content over all kinds of arrangements, facilities and a secure environment along the twin routes. Lakhs of devotees from across the country are expected to pay obeisance this year at the 12756 feet high Holy Cave in the Himalayas in the Kashmir region. Elaborate, foolproof security arrangements have been put in place for the safe, seamless and secure pilgrimage. Meanwhile, a fresh batch of over 5000 pilgrims, including men, women, children, Sadhus, etc, in 238 vehicles were flagged off from Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp in Jammu today morning. These Yatries will reach their respective Base Camps by this evening.
