All schools in Okhla, Jamia, New Friends Colony, Madanpur Khadar area of Delhi to remain closed today

All schools in Okhla, Jamia, New Friends Colony, Madanpur Khadar area of the national capital will remain closed today. In a tweet, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia said, the decision was taken keeping in mind the prevailing situation in the area.

Meanwhile, 50 students, who were detained during protests at the Jamia Millia Islamia University yesterday, have been released. Of the 50 students, 35 were released from the Kalkaji police station and 15 from the New Friends Colony police station. Delhi Police PRO M S Randhawa said, the students who were protesting outside the Delhi Police Headquarters have been assured that an impartial inquiry will be done in connection with the violence and those found guilty will be punished. 

Meanwhile, all the metro stations which were closed yesterday on the advice of Delhi Police have been opened.

Yesterday, a protest against the Citizenship Act turned violent in Jamia Nagar area of national capital. Few vehicles buses were set ablaze by protesters. Six police personnel also received injuries in stone-pelting.
