AI’s first art exhibit gives a glimpse into artists of the future

New York [USA], Forget about expensive brushes, paints, and canvases, the future art will hold value in terms of the algorithm in use, the extent of machine learning involved and the value each digitally constructed artwork will hold.
Recently, scientist Ahmed Elgammal followed the uber contemporary approach to art and hosted his first art exhibit in Chelsea. The USP of the artwork is that it has been created with the help of AICAN, a nearly autonomous AI artist, Mashable reported.
Using artificial intelligence, the scientist-AI duo created some very stunning artwork. The idea behind the first ever art exhibition by an AI is to push the technology into the creative domain of humans such as creating art, music, or literature.
The AI art has been made using GANs, Generative Adversarial Networks. This system allows the human to choose what the AI learns and curates the final pieces being made.
AICAN was fed over 100,000 images of western art over the last 500 years and then make innovative art out of it, which is not imitative.
Elgammal believes the AI will be integrated into the mainstream of making art in the future.
