Currently, the consumption of incense sticks in India is estimated at 1490 tonnes per day, but locally only 760 tonnes are produced per day.
Therefore, the huge difference between demand and supply resulted in huge imports of raw incense sticks. As a result, the import of raw incense sticks increased from just 2 percent in 2009 to 80 percent in 2019.
