The Government today said that it has laid a special focus on improving the health facilities in tribal areas.
Replying to the supplementaries in the Lok Sabha, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, J P Nadda said that the government with the active support of state and UT governments makes sure that every citizen of India, especially from the tribal areas, receives the best medical facilities.
Earlier, Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, while replying to the supplementarity, said that while the global decline rate in the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in the past 30 years has reached 42 per cent, India has witnessed 83 per cent comparatively.
She said that this has been possible only because of comprehensive and multi-pronged measures taken by the government of India. She said that the effective implementation of the National Health Mission has ensured that the healthcare facilities reach out to every citizen of India.
The MoS said that under the National Health Mission (NHM), each state and Union Territory receives the financial and necessary technical support to ensure timely medical aid to the patients. She said that under NHM, the mobile medical teams keep track of pregnant women and other patients thereby leading to a significant decline in mortality rate across the country.
