The government today said the Narendra Modi-led government is committed to increasing the income of the farmers.
Replying to the supplimentaries in the Lok Sabha during question hour, Union Minister for Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, said that since 2019, the government has fixed the MSP rates with a 50 per cent profit above the costs incurred on production.
The Minister said that it was a matter of satisfaction that India has become the number one country in coconut production in the world and the government is taking ample measures to keep a check on the diseases affecting the coconut.
Meanwhile, in the Rajya Sabha, the Deputy Chairman, Harivansh, rejected the adjournment motion moved by some opposition members demanding discussion on the Mahkumbh incident.
