In Uttar Pradesh, people got relief from heat and humidity due to rain in Lucknow, Barabanki, Varanasi, Pilibhit, Mau, Jaunpur and other districts today. Moderate to heavy rain is being recorded in many areas of western Uttar Pradesh and eastern UP today.
India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Agra, Firozabad, Bijnor, Moradabad and surrounding areas. Along with this, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at some places in western UP and lightning along with heavy rain at some places in eastern UP. In view of the possibility of heavy rain in Jaunpur, all schools up to class 8 remained closed today on the instructions of District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar.
Due to rain and the release of dam water, the water level of the river Ganga is increasing in Varanasi, due to which connectivity with many ghats has been cut off and the place of Ganga Aarti has also been shifted 20 meters back. Whereas in Farrukhabad, the Ganga River is flowing five centimetres above the danger mark, and the river water has reached many villages.
