External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar reached Tokyo this morning on a two-day visit to Japan. Ambassador of India in Japan Sibi George welcomed the Minister at the airport. At the invitation of his Japanese counterpart Ms. Yoko Kamikawa, Dr. Jaishankar is visiting Japan to participate in the Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting which will be held tomorrow. During the meeting, the Foreign Ministers of India, Japan, US and Australia will take forward discussions held during the last meeting in New York in September last year and exchange views on developments in the Indo-Pacific region, and review progress on Quad initiatives and working groups. The Ministers will discuss regional and international issues, and guide future collaboration to achieve the shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific region by addressing contemporary priorities of the region through delivery of public goods.After reaching Tokyo, Dr Jaishankar unveiled a bust of Mahatma Gandhi at Freedom Plaza in Edogawa. Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Masahiro Komura and Mayor of Edogawa Takeshi Saitō were present on the occasion.
