Heavy rain continues to lash across Kerala mainly the northern parts of the State. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains with thunder and lightning in the State for the next 5 days. Orange alert has been issued in Malappuram, Kannur, Ernakulam and Kasaragod districts today and red alert is issued in these districts for tomorrow. High alert is there in the hilly and coastal areas.
In view of the heavy rains, holiday has been declared for all educational institutions in Malappuram, Thrissur, Kasargod Kannur and Kozhikode districts tomorrow.
As the sea remains rough fisherfolks are warned from venturing into the sea in the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts.
