Union road and highways minister Nitin Gadkari has tweeted that travel from Nagpur to Pune will be possible in just 8 hours soon.
In a tweet, he said that the new proposed Pune-Aurangabad Green Expressway, will be connected at Aurangabad to Samruddhi highway.
This highway will be built by National Highway Authority of India(NHAI) with entire new alignment. This will cut the travel time between Pune and Aurangabad to 2 hours 15 minutes and the travel time between Aurangabad and Nagpur will be cut to five and half hours. The first stretch of Samruddhi Expressway connecting Nagpur-Mumbai will be commissioned soon from Nagpur to Shirdi.
The new proposed alignment provides connectivity from South India (Goa, Bangalore and other districts of Karnataka via Pune – Bangalore Expressway) to Pune, Aurangabad, Nagpur and further to Madhya Pradesh and Northern India.
The proposed alignment has length of 268km including 39km length of proposed ring road around Pune City. proposed alignment starts at Pune – Bangalore Highway(Intersection with Pune Proposed Ring Road) and end point is at Samruddhi Expressway (Nagpur – Mumbai Expressway). The districts Pune, Ahmednagar, Beed and Aurangabad are covered under this alignment. The expressway will have 8 lanes and it can bear highest speed of 120 KM. per hour.
