International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced sites/ venues for the 2026 FIFA World Cup during a press conference in New York. FIFA World Cup 2026 will be the first to be hosted by three countries, namely the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

On Thursday, June 16, FIFA announced the selected 16 North American cities to host 2026 World Cup games. The FIFA World Cup 2026 host cities include Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Guadalajara, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, Monterrey, New York / New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver.
According to media reports, seventeen stadiums in 16 areas, including across California, remained in contention to be among 10-12 selected from the U.S. for the tournament. The U.S. will be hosting 60 of the 80 games under FIFA’s plan.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino congratulated all 32 nations on their qualification for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and welcomed fans from around the world for “the greatest show on earth.” The competing teams were finalized on Tuesday (June 14) with Costa Rica defeating New Zealand at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Doha.
In the other intercontinental play-off, Australia outlasted Peru with a penalty shoot-out victory. With Costa Rica and Australia’s win, the qualifiers for Qatar 2022 got completed.
The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will begin on November 21 with four matches on the opening day. Senegal and the Netherlands would play in the opening game. Later the same day, England will take on IR Iran, hosts Qatar will face Ecuador, and the USA will go head-to-head against Wales. The 64th and final match will be played at Lusail Stadium on December 18. A total of 36 referees, 69 assistant referees, and 24 video match officials (VMOs) have been selected as match officials for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
