India’s coal production jumps by around 34 per cent to over 71 MT in May

India’s coal production has increased by around 34 per cent to over 71 Million Tonnes from 53 Million Tonnes during May this year as compared to the corresponding month last year.

As per the provisional data of the Ministry of Coal, last month Coal India Limited produced around 55 Million Tonnes, the Singareni Collieries Company Limited produced over six Million Tonnes. At the same time, coal dispatch also increased by over 16 per cent to around 78 Million Tonnes from 67 Million Tonnes during May this year as compared to May, 2020. The Ministry said, of the top 37 coal producing mines, 23 of them produced more than 100 per cent.
