DGFT operationalises ‘COVID-19 helpdesk’ to resolve International trade related issues

To swiftly resolve issues arising in international trade, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has operationalised a ‘COVID-19 helpdesk’ to provide timely support and information on import & export queries, and to seek suitable resolutions for any difficulty being faced by trade stakeholders.

According to the statement by the commerce ministry,” The DGFT ‘COVID-19 Helpdesk’ would look into issues relating to Department of Commerce/DGFT, Import and Export Licensing Issues, Customs clearance delays and complexities arising thereon, Import/Export documentation issues, Banking matters etc.”

Notably, the portal would also collect and collate trade related concerns of other Ministries/Departments/Agencies of Central Government and State Governments for the synergetic co-ordinate to seek their support and to provide possible resolutions.

Confirming the news, Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in a tweet mentioned,” Government has set up a COVID-19 help desk to monitor & swiftly resolve issues arising in international trade. For timely support & information on import & export queries, the trade community can access the help desk.”

The trading stakeholders can submit information on the DGFT website and information relating to their issues by the following steps:

  • Login to DGFT Website: https://dgft.gov.in ( Services -> DGFT -> Helpdesk Service)
  • ‘Create New Request’ and then the Category as ‘Covid-19′
  • Click the suitable sub-category, enter other relevant information and submit the request.

The issues can also be emailed to: [email protected] with the subject header: Covid-19 Helpdesk.

One can also track the status of resolutions and feedback using the Status tracker under the DGFT Helpdesk Services.
