India has crossed a significant milestone in the fight against the global pandemic. The cumulative number of COVID19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 5 crore yesterday. Union Health Ministry in a statement said that a total of 5 crore 75 thousand 162 vaccine doses have been given so far. These include over 79 lakh Healthcare Workers who have taken the first dose and more than 50 lakh those Healthcare Workers who have taken the second dose.
Besides 83.33 lakh Frontline workers were given first dose of Covid vaccine while 30.60 lakh Frontline workers received the second dose. Over 2 crore 12 lakh beneficiaries aged 60 years old and over 45 lakh beneficiaries aged 45 and above with specific co-morbidities received the first dose of vaccine. The Ministry said over 15 lakh 80 thousand vaccine doses were given till 7 pm today on the Sixty Seventh day of nationwide COVID19 vaccination.
