Thiruvananthapuram: The plans to smuggle gold to Kerala through diplomatic baggage was hatched in Dubai, the accused in the case revealed on Thursday.
During interrogation, the accused stated that Sarith, Sandeep and Ramees were living in Dubai in 2014. They started conspiring to smuggle gold while in Dubai. They even conducted a dummy test to examine how to smuggle the gold using diplomatic baggage. Swapna was included in the operation to secure the baggage from the airport without trouble.
It was also revealed that Sarith, Sandeep Nair and Ramees had deals with Ramees and Rabins in Dubai. Later, the trio used Swapna Suresh to gain diplomatic privileges.

Sandeep and Swapna stated that they only had friendship with the Chief Minister’s former principal secretary, M. Sivasankar. The two accused also revealed that the IAS officer used to take part in all of their parties.
