The Indian Meteorological Department has said that Cyclone Vayu will not hit Gujarat as expected, instead passing nearby from Veraval, Porbandar, Dwarka. Its effect will be seen on the coastal regions as there will be heavy wind speed and heavy rain as well.
As many as 1.6 lakh people had been evacuated in the low-lying areas of Saurashtra and Kutch regions of Gujarat ahead of the expected landfall of Cyclone Vayu, which was supposed to happen around noon on Thursday, 13 June.
On Friday, 14 June, the IMD said that the Cyclone might have delayed Monsoon in Mumbai by another seven days.
