5 expats who landed in Kochi, 3 in Karipur isolated due to high fever

Kochi : Among the NRIs who were brought back to Kerala on Thursday night, five passengers in Kochi and three passengers in Karipur were isolated after being diagnosed with high temperature.

The flight from Abu Dhabi landed in Nedumbassery by 10 pm. The NRIs were subjected to tests before letting out. Five persons in the first batch arrived from Abu Dhabi were shifted to Aluva district hospital due to COVID suspicion. Their temperature was high when tested using thermal scanner.

Earlier, a friend of a Kannur native person among the five was confirmed with COVID-19. All five of them were taken to hospitals in five ambulances. They had no symptoms in the tests conducted at Abu Dhabi airport. 17 persons who wanted to remain in quarantine were brought to the quarantine centre SCMS in Kalamassery. One among them is a pregnant woman from Kannur. She will be sent to Kannur on Friday.

Three persons who arrived at Karipur airport were diagnosed with health issues and were isolated. A Malappuram native who is under treatment for kidney disease was shifted to Kozhikode medical college and another Malappuram native who had cough and a Wayanad native who is under treatment for burn injuries were shifted to Manjeri medical college.

Among the passengers who landed in Kochi, there were 49 pregnant women and four children. 30 of them came home to attend funeral ceremonies of relatives. 16 persons are in a state of medical emergency.

85 passengers among those who landed in Karipur were allowed to remain in home-quarantine, said minister K T Jaleel. 51 among them came for emergency treatment. 19 pregnant women, 6 senior citizens aged above 75 and two people with COVID negative report were allowed to remain in home-quarantine.
