40 trains to be added to special services in Chennai


Chennai:
 A Southern Railways officer has informed that special train service will be augmented to 244 trains by adding 40 more with the existing 204 trains.

This expansion according to the official will be effected due to increasing footfall which could compromise on physical distancing.

204 special trains have been in service in the city to cater, state, central government employees and those in essential occupations.

With these additional trains, rushing and scampering could be brought down also the passengers could maintain physical distancing.

In addition to this, suburban trains will also start operating from Tiruttani towards Chennai Egmore and MGR Central railway station. Schedule would be issued soon, added the official.
