External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar on Saturday expressed grief over the death of 21-year-old Indian student Kartik Vasudev in Canada.
Kartik succumbed to his injuries after suffering from multiple gun-shot wounds.
Taking to the micro-blogging site, EAM Dr. S Jaishankar said, “Grieved by this tragic incident. Deepest condolences to the family.”
Earlier on Friday, the Indian Consulate in Toronto too expressed grief at the unfortunate demise of Indian student in Toronto.
“We are shocked & distressed at the unfortunate killing of Indian student Kartik Vasudev in a shooting incident in Toronto yesterday. We are in touch with the family and will provide all possible assistance in early repatriation of mortal remains,” the Indian Consulate in a tweet said.
The 21-year Indian student was killed following a shooting incident in Canada’s Toronto. According to the Toronto Police, he had been shot at the entrance of the subway station in Toronto.
According to the reports, no arrests have yet been made by the police officials so far. However the Toronto Police have appealed to witnesses to contact the authorities if they hold any information regarding the tragic incident.
“Investigators would like to speak to any witnesses that were in the areas at the time, as well as any drivers or businesses that have camera footage.”
Kartik was a first year Marketing Management student of Seneca College. In a tweet the Seneca college expressed grief over the tragic death of Kartik Vasudev.
“The Seneca community is saddened to hear of the tragic death of Kartik Vasudev, a first-semester Marketing Management student. Our thoughts are with Mr. Vasudev’s family, friends and classmates. Counselling support is being made available to students and employees.”
