2-Day Swachhata Campaign begins in premises of Parliament House

A two- day Swachhata Campaign began in the premises of Parliament House in New Delhi today.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Puri and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi participated in the cleanliness drive.

Besides, several Parliamentarians and Staff of Parliament House also took part in this drive.

Before initiating the cleanliness drive, the Union Ministers and MPs offered floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at his statue.

They also took  Swachhata pledge. Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker Om Birla said, it is the commitment of every Parliamentarian to ensure cleanliness in every village and city of the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh appreciated the cleanliness initiative undertaken by the Lok Sabha Speaker. He said, Swachhata has now become a people’s movement and people are also aware of benefits of cleanliness, be it related to health or environment.
