14-year-old girl hangs self in Sion temple Koliwada

Mumbai: A 14-year-old girl committed suicide in Sion Koliwad area on Monday. A class nine student, she hanged herself in Kalimata Temple at Sion. The police are still investigating the reason that drove the girl to take this drastic step. Antop Hill Police have registered an Accidental Death Report case (ADR) and are investigating the possible reasons for the suicide.

Unknown parents had left a girl in 2006 on the staircase of the Kalimata temple at Sion and she was raised by one Patmadevi and treated her as her own child. Recently, the girl was promoted to ninth standard. “Patmadevi had gone to her village a fortnight ago and on Monday, in the girls’ room of Kalimata temple, she was found hanging from the ceiling fan. On Monday morning, when the staff came to her room to give her breakfast, they saw her hanging from the ceiling fan,” said an officer from the Antop Hill police station. The officer further added, “We have registered an ADR and we are looking for why girl has hanged herself.”
