Thane: An 11-year-old girl lost her life and two others sustained grievous injuries when a chunk of their room’s roof collapsed in Bhiwandi on Tuesday night. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sakshi, while the injured are her mother Sneha and her youngster sister Pragati (8). Sakshi studied in class VI at a Bhiwandi school. The incident took place at Ganga Jamuna ground plus two storey building in the Padmanagar area of Bhiwandi. The Bhiwandi Nizampura Municipal Corporation said the Ganga Januma building was built 20 year ago.
Sneha, her husband Umesh Engundla and their two daughters had been living on the first floor as tenants for the past two years. When the slab’s portion collapsed, the trio were sleeping, while Umesh was at his workplace. Their neighbours rushed to their rescue, and rushed them to the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where Sakshi was declared dead before arrival. Sneha and Pragati suffered head and hand injuries. They have been undergoing treatment at the hospital.
