YSR Congress leader YS Vivekananda Reddy dies

YSR Congress Party leader, former Andhra Pradesh minister and former Lok Sabha member YS Vivekananda Reddy died today following a cardiac arrest. He was 68.

Reddy suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence in Pulivendula town of Kadapa district in the early hours of Friday.

He was the younger brother of late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajashekhara Reddy and uncle of YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

He is survived by his wife and a daughter.

Reddy became an MLA for the first time in 1989 and retained his seat in 1994. He became a Lok Sabha member from Kadapa in 1999 and 2004. He was elected as MLC in 2009.

He served as an Agriculture Minister of the then unified Andhra Pradesh. He quit the Congress to join Jagan’s  YSRCP.
