The Delhi IPL franchise has been bringing in some changes in order to put an end to its poor outings in the recent editions of the Indian Premier League.
It changed its name to “Delhi Capitals” and signed legendary Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting as the coach.
Now, it has announced that former India captain and Cricket Association of Bengal president Sourav Ganguly as the advisor for this year’s edition of the Indian Premier League.
Sourav Ganguly was part of Kolkata Knight Riders for three seasons, during which he also led the side. He ended his IPL career with Pune Warriors in 2013.
In its earlier avatar as Delhi Daredevils, the franchise registered their best possible performance in 2008 and 2009, when the franchise reached the semi-finals. Virender Sehwag was the captain then.
The IPL is scheduled to begin quite early this year – 23 March – in view of the Lok Sabha elections.
