NCW takes cognizance of post poll violence against women in West Bengal; asks state police to act in matter.

The National Commission for Women has taken cognizance of post poll violence against women in West Bengal and asked State police to act in the matter.

The Commission Chairperson Rekha Sharma spoke to West Bengal DGP over the issue and asked him not be a spectator of crime happening in the state against women. She said the DGP informed that he is still verifying the videos related to violence. She questioned the approach of the police saying if this is the state of affairs, what help they will provide to women. The Chairperson said, a team from NCW will visit the state tomorrow to inquire about the violence against the women.
