The Enforcement Directorate has approached the Delhi’s Patiala House Court to seek production warrant of corporate lobbyist Deepak Talwar. This is in connection with the purchase of 43 aircraft by the Indian Airlines in 2005.
Talwar was extradited to India from Dubai along with businessman Rajeev Saxena on 30 January. Talwar is currently in judicial custody in a money laundering case.
The investigating agency suspects his involvement in irregular seat-sharing on Air India’s profitable routes with some prominent international airlines. It has urged the court to issue production warrant against Talwar as custodial interrogation is a must to reach a logical conclusion.
