Asian share markets today plunged tracking losses in US equity markets. Lingering concerns over the Federal Reserve’s tightening and weaker-than-expected economic and earnings data in the US weighed on sentiment ahead of a Fed policy meeting next week.
South Korea’s KOSPI declined one percent while Japan’s NIKKEI-225 and China’s Shanghai Composite index, both tumbled 0.9 percent. Singapore’s Straits Times ended flat while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng added 0.1 percent.
European markets were also down in intra-day trade. London’s FTSE 100 fell 0.9 percent, France’s CAC declined 1.5 percent and Germany’s DAX tumbled 1.7 percent.
