Abdul Hussein made history when he became the first refugee to win the IMMAF amateur world championship. Now, “ABBA”, as he’s also known, wants to do even more, securing the BRAVE Combat Federation world title in devastating fashion. His road towards the title begins on September 24th, at BRAVE CF 42, when he meets American Zach Makovsky in the quarter-finals of the BRAVE CF Flyweight Tournament, the biggest grand-prix of mixed martial arts in 2020.

Born in a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, Hussein moved to Finland with his family. In the Scandinavian country, he started training after his brother introduced him to martial arts, worked his way up the ladder and eventually joined the MMA national team.

In 2015, he fought four times in four days to secure Bantamweight gold for Finland at the European IMMAF Amateur Championships. A year later, he repeated that feat and became an amateur world champion, ending his amateur career with an impressive 8-0 record.

After that, ‘’ABBA’’ made his professional transition, and found similar success, winning his first four pro fights, before joining BRAVE Combat Federation. After losing on his debut for the fastest-growing MMA organization in the world, Abdul has reinvented himself at Flyweight and is one of the division’s most promising fighters worldwide.

In the Kingdom of Bahrain, Abdul Hussein will take part in the prestigious BRAVE CF Flyweight World Title Tournament, as part of the upcoming Kombat Kingdom events, taking on the veteran Zach Makovsky, in a clash that can be perfectly described as experience vs youth. Not for Hussein, though, who believes his amateur experience can be the difference maker against a tough and battle-tested Makovsky.
